Old lumberjack cabin of Verla

The Uittotupa of Verla is a cabin formerly owned by the Timber Rafting Association of Mantyharju. It’s where the rafters used to stay the night after a hard day’s work. There was a bigger cabin next to it, but that was later dismantled.  Uittotupa is a part of the World Heritage Site Verla. It’s along the Puun tie – canoeing route that goes from Repovesi to Verla.

The cabin was closed from the public for a long time, but it was opened as one of the accommodation destinations along the Puun tie – canoeing route in 2014. The roof and the exterior were renovated first and in the spring of 2014 the students of Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences restored the interior. The aim was to recreate and maintain the same atmosphere that existed in the old cabin.

The reservations and maintenance of the Verla cottages and cabins is managed by Repovalkea Oy. The cottages and cabins are owned and operated by UPM-Kymmene Oyj. The destinations are part of the World Heritage Site.
