As far as is known the cottage has been named after Anselm Mäki who used to work as a blacksmith (seppä) at the factory's repair shop. Anselm had made a big life decision to work at the factory in 1904.
A man called Lampila built the cottage in 1890. In the 1920's the cottage was marked on a hand-drawn map as "painter Seppä-Mäki". Even in papers from 1930 the cottage was identified with the name Mäki. Later, in the 1950's, the cottage was used by the forest department, and at that time at least the forest foreman lived in it. During the last years of the factory the cottage was occupied by a pensioner from the forest department.
