Verla's Retro Cottages

The Raili-Kaarinat of the Verla World Heritage site tell the story of a growing and increasingly prosperous 1960s Finland—a time when the postwar, predominantly agrarian homeland transformed into an industrialized society. Architecture of the era was defined by letting go of the old and embracing the latest trends; large windows, low-slung designs, and often flat roofs became the hallmarks of the day. It was the legendary era of the ”Lättähattu” (flat-hats).
